Visiting Macao - Asia's Casino Central

Visiting Macao was an exciting and tiring experience. Whilst touring the casinos was great, travelling time wasn't so much. All shuttle buses are free between casinos though, which was the upside of travelling to and from casinos. We took the ferry from Hong Kong, which took about 1 and a half hours, and stayed at the Grand Lapa hotel. We also visited many casinos, although more for the shopping than the gambling.

Shopping Mall Inside the Grand Lapa
The Grand Lapa hotel was really grand, and lovely to stay in. The staff were very helpful, and it's got everything you'd expect a hotel to have. It's pretty much right next to the Sands hotel, with shuttle buses going to almost everywhere in Macao. It's also only a short bus journey away from the Hong Kong to Macao ferry port, with travel time being around 20 minutes.

Paintings on the Ceilings inside Venetian
I really enjoyed visiting the Venetian. It looks average from the outside, but it's so breathtaking inside. Inspired by Italian architecture, inside is a huge shopping mall with cloudy skies as wallpapers and a river between two streets. It's perfect for shopaholics as there are so many different branded shops inside, from designer to luxury.

Inside The Galaxy
The Galaxy, another casino, is also great for shopping as all the casinos are. We didn't browse for too long there as our stay was only 2 days long. Instead, we went for a buffet lunch upstairs, which was good.

House of Dancing Water - City of Dreams
City of Dreams features the House of Dancing Water, which you can read about here. I love how slick this casino looks. With every casino, there is a theme, and City of Dreams is futuristic themed, with spaceships and spacesuits on display.

Panda :)
Finally, we visited the Panda park in Macao, which features the panda you see above. Everything is panda themed and it was really nice to just relax and enjoy watching the panda for a while. You also enjoy amazing aircon as you watch the panda. The park also features some very cute panda souvenirs which you can gift to friends and family.

Top Tips:

1. All shuttle buses are free from and to casinos, so taking a taxi isn't really necessary at all
2. Remember your ID at all times if you are visiting casinos, especially if you look young. I was ID'd at every casino, and they wouldn't believe I was over 21 even when I gave them my passport!
3. Take music or something similar with you as coach journeys can sometimes take quite long
4. Check out town centres for Macao's most famous foods: Beef jerky, almond cakes and portugese egg tarts, pork buns
5. Macao is great for shopping, so make sure you bring some extra cash!
